CleverGreen Festival comes to Brighton!
On Saturday 20th July, The Level was transformed into an environmentalist’s dream; an entire festival dedicated to helping people live more sustainable lives!
More than 1,500 people attended the day-long CleverGreen Festival which was free to attend and that brought together more than 50 ethical retailers, a series of interactive workshops and inspiring guest speakers, a wellbeing area, children’s area, huge clothes swap arena as well as food and drink stands.
Live music was provided throughout the day by a host of bands and artists on the main stage sponsored by SPACE + THYME.
As well as sponsoring the festival, we also ran the bars during the festival so our silver Airstream mobile bar was gleaming in the glorious sunshine, and we also had our Horse Box bar out on show selling beer. We reduced our carbon footprint significantly by only selling beers from local brewing companies located within a 2.5 mile radius of the event, including Laine Brew Co, Two Tribes, Cloak and Daggerand Brighton Bier. If anybody was after a refreshing water instead, we stocked a zero-plastic alternative in the form of Life Water Cans.
The big announcement at Glastonbury this year was that they went plastic-free and we were no exception, ditching single-use plastics in favour of reusable cups sponsored by Laine Pub Co. that were available from all the bars for a refundable £1 deposit. A much greener and more environmentally friendly policy that was a successful addition to the festival!
Jo Child, organiser of the CleverGreen Festival said, “We knew that an event like this was needed to show people that zero waste living can be learned and can be easy. Our festival encapsulated and showcased so many inspiring and groundbreaking changes that are striving for the good of people, planet and purpose. It was a truly incredible, positive and uplifting day and one which we believe people will not only fondly remember, but will benefit from for a long time”.
